Vertical Stirred Mill

CRIMM started the research and development of fine and ultra-fine grinding technologies and mills as early as 1980s.  

The 45kW vertical stirred mill was first used in Shandong Rushan Gold mine, known as Shandong Jinzhou Mining Industry Group Co., Ltd. in 1988. 

The 75kW mill was first used in China Molybdenum Co., Ltd in Luoyang, Henan province in 2000. 

The 132kW mill was first used in Jinping  Gold mine of Yunnan Gold Mining Group in 2005. 

The 250kW mill was first used in Yangla copper mine of Yunan Copper Group in 2010. 

The 315kW mill was first used in Fankou Lead-Zinc mine of Shenzhen Zhongjin Lingnan Nonfemet in 2012. 

The 355kW mill was first used in Asele copper mine in Xinjiang of Zijin Mining Group in 2013. 

The 1120kW mill will be put into use in 2014. 

The CRIMM vertical stirred mills have been exported to South Africa, Vietnam, Mongolia, etc. 

Advantages

Working Principle

Grinding media, such as steel balls or ceramic or natural pebbles, is stirred by an overhung double helix screw (or charge agitator). Grinding media rises within the screw flights and falls downward in the space between the flight tips and the inside diameters of the mill body. 

Pulp enters into the mill body from the bottom port and overflows from the upper port. In this process, the small particles rise, while the large particles are drawn into the media and ground. 

Grinding is by attrition/abrasion which is effective for fine grinding. Grinding efficiency is enhanced by the relatively high pressure between the media and particles to be ground.

Capacity is calculated based on feed size as 80% passing 60~80 µm and product size as 80~90% passing 45 µm. 

Applications

1.     Iron ore 

JM mills are used to improve the liberation degree of iron minerals, upgrade the iron concentrates in Magang Steel Group, Baotou Steel Rare-earth Group, Shizhuyuan Nonferrous Metals, Wangguo Mining Group, Huangshaping ore, Zhongtiaoshan Nonferrous Group, etc.  

2.     Molybdenum, zinc-lead, copper ore 

Over 200 sets of JM mills have been used in non-ferrous metal ores regrinding to fully liberate molybdenum, copper, zinc, lead in Jinduicheng Molybdenum Group, China Molybdenum Group, Fankou Lead-Zinc mine, Dexing Copper of Jiangxi Copper Corporation, Yangla of Yunnan Copper Group,  Wunugetu shan Cu-Mo mine of China Gold Group, etc.  

3.     Gold ore 

JM mills have been used in grinding refractory gold to unlock the gold encapsulated in pyrite to improve the rate and recovery of the leaching process in Zijin Mining Group, Shandong Zhaojin Group, China National Gold Group, Tongling Chaoshan Gold, Chenzhou Mining Group Co., Ltd. Feed size -74µm60%, product size -38µm95%. 

4.     Electrolytic manganese metal  

Over 20 sets of JM mills have been used in wet grinding electrolytic manganese from 3mm to -25µm95% to produce manganese tetraoxide, including in Kingray, Guizhou Songtao manganese mine, etc. 

5.     Rare earth minerals 

Fine grinding of rare earth minerals and monazite in Yiyang Rare Earth, Leshan Primet, Shanghai Juntai Rare Earth Company, and Zhuzhou Tantalum and Niobium facotory, etc. Feed size 0.18mm, product size -38µm95%.
